In 2001 I was faced with a really grave financial situation, I had never been in this kind of trouble before and seemed like it just springed up on me out on no where. Simply put, I needed financial help and I had no where to turn to get it. I had bad credit and made really little money while I was going to school. Thankfully at the time I had student loans to help me out with the major stuff, but I could never find the extra cash to do any extras. Life as a college student with no extras is lame, let me tell you! Well, things go really bad when I ended up in the hospital with severe stomach cramps, it turned out to be nothing serious, but the bill that came with it, was REALLY serious! I had to get a Advance for cash from work to pay for it, because the hospital wouldn’t work out a payment plan with me.
Here is the point of my story, sort of…No matter how broke you are, or how little bit of money you make, try having some saved for a rainy day. Even as a college student, this is super important, heck even as a high school student. It’s never too early!! if you don’t, and you encounter a financial emergency, it could literally put you in the hole and you will likely have a hard time getting out if you’re not making a lot of money.
Step number one…Save some money!!! As much or as little as you can, it’s never too late or too early. I know it’s hard to save when you are in college, but trust me, that savings will likely save you or help you out in some case. After that time I took out the Online cash advance, I was literally scrounging every month for the next few months until I finally got the summer off and was able to work more hours. Luckily I was able to catch back up again, but the sad truth is that many people don’t. Preparation is key to helping you create a better life for your future. If you begin to save some cash while you’re in college, you will likely begin to create some very good habits.
Here is the problem with this world, no one had been taught what to do with their money. If there is one thing that is right from the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” it’s that middle to lower class parent’s usual fail to teach their kids the importance of money. This is not to say that all middle and lower class people don’t have a clue when it comes to money, it’s just that they themselves might not have developed the skills to make money for them the way the wealthy. Speaking of the book previously mentioned, it’s definitely worth a read and will make you look at money in a whole new way. I must say though, it kind of has a way of making you feel stupid, but it is helpful.
